JJ Healy
Venture Partner
JJ is a Venture Partner at GrandBanks Capital and technology industry veteran with more than fifteen years of operational and investment experience with some of the largest companies in the Digital Economy, including Yahoo! Inc. and EMC Corporation. In total, JJ’s investments and acquisitions combined were greater than $10 billion in transaction value. In addition, he has orchestrated several of the largest acquisitions in the history of the Internet. JJ brings a wealth of operating and deal structuring expertise to the companies in which he invests, as well as an extended network of domestic and international business contacts. JJ led GrandBanks Capital’s investment in Concentric Visions which merged with OutStart in July 2002.
Background
In addition to JJ’s rich operating experience with growing companies, he has invested in several early-stage technology companies as an angel investor including StorageNetworks, Inc. (Nasdaq:STOR) and FinPoint. JJ is also on the advisory board of Avamar Technologies, Inc. and previously served on the Board of Directors of Concentric Visions, Inc., a GrandBanks Capital portfolio company which merged with OutStart, Inc. in 2002.
From November 1996 until June 2000, JJ was the Vice President of Corporate Development for Yahoo! Inc., where he reported directly to the President and CEO, Tim Koogle, and was teamed with founder, Jerry Yang, to develop Yahoo!’s acquisition and investment program. During his tenure at the Company, JJ led a corporate development team that completed over 20 corporate investments and 16 acquisitions, including Yahoo!’s $4.3 billion acquisition of GeoCities and its $5.7 billion purchase of Broadcast.com.
While with Yahoo!, JJ worked closely with Charley Lax on a number of investments that Yahoo! and SOFTBANK Venture Capital completed together, including GeoCities, eLoan and Impulse Buy Network. In addition to these co-investments, JJ and Charley worked closely on the sale of both GeoCities and Yoyodyne to Yahoo!
Before joining Yahoo!, JJ was a Principal at Von Gehr International, specializing in international mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Von Gehr International, he was a Vice President with Credit Suisse First Boston Investment Banking Group focusing on technology transactions with clients such as Apple Computer, Seagate and Sybase. From 1985 to 1990, JJ held several senior positions with EMC Corporation, including Director of Asian Operations, Director of IBM Product Marketing – Europe and Director of Worldwide Marketing – Wang Products Group.

Interests
JJ is also active with the Double J Ranch in Daniel, Wyoming, where he has a cow/calf operation. He is on the Executive Board of the Green River Land Trust, which protects open space in Wyoming. JJ is an avid skier (a broken down racer), mountain biker, hunter and fly fisherman.
