WHERE, Inc., North America’s leading location media company, has successfully recruited startup veteran Dr. Mok Oh to join their executive team as Chief Innovation Officer, a newly formed role within the organization. Dr. Oh will lead the charge in developing fresh business and technology strategies that enable WHERE to take full advantage of exciting new market opportunities in mobile commerce. As a ‘big-picture’ tactician with a first-class technical background that includes a Ph.D. in Computer Graphics from M.I.T., Dr. Oh is poised to take WHERE’s ingrained culture of innovation to the next level.
Prior to joining WHERE, Dr. Oh served as CTO of trendsetting data visualization company, Everyscape, which he founded in 2002. Dr. Oh’s eight-year tenure saw the company grow from a bootstrap startup to an industry leader employing over fifty people and backed by multiple top-tier venture capital firms. Dr. Oh remains closely involved with the enterprise he built, serving on Everyscape’s Board of Directors.
“Mok knows what it takes to create and deliver sophisticated web and mobile applications at scale,” said Walt Doyle, CEO, WHERE “We are thrilled to have him on board to help guide our data and content architecture towards delivering the most relevant local experience to consumers and merchants alike.”
“The growing convergence of mobile, local, and social is accelerating commerce unlike anything we’ve seen in our history,” said Dr. Mok Oh, Chief Innovation Officer, WHERE. “With our focus honed on creating lasting connections between consumers and local merchants, WHERE is positioned to own some serious real estate at the intersection of this ‘holy trinity.’ I’m looking forward to working with this amazing, top-notch team to help further stamp WHERE as a leading innovator in mobile commerce.”
