COLUBRIS NETWORKS NAMES LARRY WHITMAN AS CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Waltham, Mass., June 4, 2003 – Colubris Networks, a global provider of 802.11 (Wi-Fi) wireless networking solutions for operators of large carrier hot spot and enterprise networks, today announced the appointment of industry veteran Larry Whitman as chief financial officer (CFO).

The announcement comes as Colubris Networks’ products continue to gain considerable traction in the market. Underscoring this momentum, the company has recently signed strategic partnerships with market leaders that include Alcatel, Juniper Networks, Funk Software and Micromuse.

Whitman brings to Colubris Networks more than 20 years of financial and high technology industry experience. He joins from Causeway Partners, Inc., a financial consulting business that he co-founded. Prior to Causeway, Whitman served as vice president of finance and administration at WaveSmith Networks. While there, he was a key participant in the firm’s Series B equity financing of $31 million, a notable accomplishment given the difficult capital market.

Previously, Whitman was chief financial officer at Eggrock Partners, where he managed the company through a $250 million acquisition by Breakaway Solutions. Before that, he served as vice president of finance with Shiva Corporation. Earlier in his career, Whitman held positions at Index Technology, Cullinet Software, Reed Holdings and Ernst & Young, LLP, where he earned his certified public accountant license.

“I’m thrilled to join a firm that’s bucking the trend by increasing sales during these tough economic times,” said Colubris Networks CFO Larry Whitman. “Colubris has a compelling product offering which has been validated by the increasing number of impressive customer wins and key partnerships. I look forward to contributing to the further success of such a strong company.”
Accommodating the growing demand for its products, Colubris Networks has also added new senior-level sales, business development and marketing executives. These appointments include: Patrick Deroy, director of EMEA carrier sales; Robert Patton, director of U.S. federal sales; Ted Watson, director of business development; and Carl Blume, director of product marketing.

Deroy brings more than 20 years of experience to Colubris Networks. He joins from Lucent Technologies, where he was vice president of sales for Western Europe business partners.
Patton comes to the company from CoSine Communications, where he served as senior global account executive for mid-Atlantic sales. He managed direct sales to enterprise and U.S. government markets.
Watson joins from Avaya, where as director of business development he helped Avaya build significant relationships with companies such as Sun, HP, Lucent and Hitachi.
With more than 20 years of industry experience, Blume comes to Colubris Networks from Paceline Systems, where he also served as director of product marketing.

“Our company has shown significant growth over the past several quarters,” said Colubris Networks President and CEO Barry Fougere. “The addition of these executives is important as we capitalize on the robust demand we’re seeing from customers and business partners. We’re thrilled to augment our team with such high caliber professionals.”
