Colubris Networks and Adjungo Networks today announced they are collaborating on the development and deployment of a secure wireless LAN (WLAN) hot spot solution that seamlessly integrates with the backend functions (OSS, billing and customer care) of mobile carriers. The joint solution is based on the secure WLAN offering for public hot spots from Colubris, and the Subscriber Information Module (SIM)/Virtual SIM authentication, security and management solution from Adjungo, for seamless integration with existing mobile operator infrastructure.
The joint solution provides a secure user experience by leveraging the popular SIM authentication method currently enjoyed by millions of mobile users worldwide. The standards-based solution expands the popular Web-based Universal Access Method for user login with SIM/Virtual SIM authentication specifically designed for mobile operators who want to offer a combined solution (CDMA or GSM with WLAN) to their customers, allowing them to roam between one technology to another. This new solution allows continuous service to users even when roaming from one access method to another (to/from WLAN and GSM/CDMA). The collaboration delivers increased mobility options enhanced with flexible pre-paid subscription models and end-to-end management of the entire network and services.
