GlassHouse Technologies Announces Fourth Engagement with Brockway-Smith

GlassHouse Technologies, the leading independent provider of vendor-neutral storage services and consulting, today announced that it has begun its fourth client engagement with Brockway-Smith (BROSCO), the largest distributor of doors, windows, and other high quality millwork products in the Northeast.

GlassHouse will upgrade BROSCO’s Tivoli Storage manager (TSM) enterprise backup solution. GlassHouse in prior engagements with the client provided implementation services for the original TSM environment, and also developed a Disaster Recovery (DR) strategy and implementation for BROSCO’s Hatfield, MA. DR site.

Additionally, GlassHouse provides on-going, semi-annual Solution Maintenance for BROSCO’s enterprise backup environment. Solution Maintenance provides a periodic review of backup operations, measuring performance metrics against the company’s goals and service level agreements to ensure the efficient, effective operation of backups and minimize the risk of downtime and data loss to the client.

“Our backup processes were not centralized or automated, creating a lot of work for our IT staff and diverting attention away from critical projects,” said David Briggs, CIO of BROSCO. “GlassHouse’s backup experts helped us automate backups, devise and implement a disaster recovery plan, and move to network attached storage. My staff is free to concentrate on other projects,” he continued. “We rely on Solution Maintenance to keep backups running at 100% efficiency, and feel confident that our fully-tested DR site is ready to support the demands of our business.”
“Many companies perform backups regularly but never try to restore the data, test the environment, or track their backup success rates,” said James Damoulakis, Chief Technology Officer, GlassHouse Technologies, Inc. “In today’s competitive business world, forced to comply with more new regulations, companies like BROSCO who test and maintain their storage and backup environments can ensure that their Disaster Recovery plans work as designed,” he added. “BROSCO gains a competitive edge by protecting its vital operational data.”
