GlassHouse Technologies, Inc, the leading provider of vendor-neutral storage services and consulting, today announced that it is delivering storage vendor evaluation and project management consulting services to Hartz Mountain Industries, one of the largest private owners of commercial real estate in the U.S.
As part of the engagement, GlassHouse assisted Hartz in the vendor evaluation and validation process around new primary storage requirements. A key requirement for the new storage system was extensive Disaster Recovery (DR) capability. This necessity is to keep Hartz, which is staffed to build even the most complex developments quickly and economically with in-house architectural, construction, design, engineering, legal, management, leasing, marketing and financial departments, operating without interruption. This capability enables Hartz to continue to attract clients such as Perrier and Lantis Eyewear. Hartz also owns, develops and operates hotels and other retail properties in the New York/New Jersey region.
“The vendor evaluation project was so successful that we asked GlassHouse to assist us as project manager in the implementation of our new primary storage,” said Jeremy Kahn, Director of IT at Hartz. “We know that having GlassHouse in our corner has saved us money, time and effort, and simplified the process of evaluating multiple vendors and suppliers. GlassHouse experts are now project managing the implementation of EMC Clariion CX600/Brocade SAN and FalconStor’s IPStor provided by MTI, configuring and testing the solution to meet our DR requirements,” Kahn continued.
Once the solution is rolled out into production, GlassHouse will perform quarterly “Solution Maintenance” to provide metrics which will ensure performance and efficiencies within the new SAN environment.
“GlassHouse initially evaluated the submissions from storage vendors, for the company’s new primary storage,” said Mark Shirman, President and CEO of GlassHouse Technologies, Inc. “We feel it’s a testament to our vendor-neutral, independent consulting expertise that Hartz has invited us back as project managers for the implementation phase. We bring clarity to all aspects of the project – defining requirements, evaluating technologies and vendors, and managing the implementation efficiently and cost-effectively.”
