Colubris Networks, a global provider of intelligent wireless LAN (WLAN) access solutions, today announced the appointment of three accomplished networking industry veterans to its senior management team. The company named Marty Falaro as vice president of enterprise and channel sales; Karen Barton as vice president of marketing; and Roger Sands as vice president of enterprise development.
The news was released at “Enterprise Networks 2004,” a key conference for enterprise IT and network executives taking place this week in Boston, Massachusetts. During the conference, Colubris Networks Founder and Chief Technology Officer Pierre Trudeau will participate in a debate with Cisco and Aruba executives about WLAN architectures.
Colubris Networks’ latest executive appointments reflect the continued growth and success of the company. This momentum is emphasized in the past several months by an agreement to provide Wi-Fi equipment to Broadreach Networks Limited, the operator of one of the largest networks in the UK under the ReadytoSurf™ brand name, as well as the announcement of the company’s next-generation WLAN access platforms, Colubris Networks Management System, and industry-first multi-service Virtual Access Point (VAP) solution.
Marty Falaro brings to Colubris Networks more than 20 years of management and sales success with leading network technology companies of various sizes and stages. Reporting to Colubris Networks President and CEO Barry Fougere, Falaro’s responsibilities include leading the company’s worldwide enterprise sales and distribution organization. He brings to his new role extensive global experience that includes developing strategic partnerships, distribution channels and direct relationships with Fortune 500 and service provider customers. Prior to joining the company, Falaro has held positions such as worldwide vice president of sales and vice president of business development at VPN equipment provider Altiga Networks (acquired by Cisco), Speechworks (acquired by Scansoft) and PictureTel. He began his sales career at IBM subsidiary Lotus Development Corporation.
Also reporting to Mr. Fougere is Karen Barton, who brings more than two decades of marketing, product management and strategy experience with networking market and technology leaders ranging from early-stage firms to publicly traded companies. She will oversee corporate marketing and product management initiatives for Colubris Networks. Prior to joining, Barton served as vice president of marketing with Appian Communications and Xedia (acquired by Lucent). She has also held vice president and director level positions in business development, product marketing and product management at Wellfleet Communications/Bay Networks (acquired by Nortel) and BBN Communications.
Roger Sands brings 20 years of engineering and executive management experience to Colubris Networks. Most recently, he served as general manager responsible for engineering and U.S. business development for the enterprise WLAN business of Accton Technologies, where he built and led this unit from formation through product release and high-volume delivery. Prior to Accton, Sands was general manager of 3Com’s Business Access Solutions division. He has also held senior engineering positions at US Robotics (acquired by 3Com), Bytex and Digital Equipment Corporation (acquired by Compaq/HP). Sands reports to John O’Hara, Colubris Networks’ vice president of engineering, who co-founded and led engineering at WaveSmith Networks (Ciena) and New Oak (Nortel).
“The dramatic success that Colubris is demonstrating in the market is not only a powerful magnet for our customers and partners, but also for top-notch people as well. This momentum is self-reinforcing. We’re proud to expand our executive team in several key disciplines with such accomplished industry veterans,” said Colubris Networks President and CEO Barry Fougere. “The extensive capabilities, insight and networking heritage of Marty Falaro, Karen Barton and Roger Sands will be valuable assets as the company continues to build and enhance a leadership position in our targeted markets.”
