COLUBRIS NETWORKS ANNOUNCES INTEROPERABILITY WITH VOCERA COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM

Colubris Networks announced today that it is fully interoperable with Vocera Communications’ wireless voice communications system to provide instant voice communication in health care, retail and other in-building environments where mobile workers need to have instant voice contact to perform their job functions.  The multi-service Colubris Wireless System of centralized management, service control appliances, security gateways and wireless access devices have been shown to provide an instant and effective wireless network platform to ensure seamless connectivity for Vocera’s voice communication solution.

The Colubris Wireless System allows a range of users and applications users – including high-priority – to operate over a single, centrally managed Wi-Fi infrastructure to cost-effectively improve an organization’s communications, productivity and response times.

”Vocera is pleased to add Colubris to our certified wireless network equipment partners,” said Niraj Jain, director of business development, Vocera Communications. “We are committed to authorizing networking solutions providers that can help our mutual customers meet their communication needs.”

Certified for interoperability with the Vocera server software, the Colubris Wireless System provides leading-edge Voice-over-Wi-Fi capabilities, multi-layered security, and the industry’s first Multi-Service Wireless Delivery capability.  With Multi-Service Wireless Delivery, up to 16 different WLAN services, each with independently configured security and QoS profiles, can be delivered through a single Colubris wireless access device to a set of distinct users and client devices.  The Vocera hands-free system is comprised of clip-on badges and server software, and operates over an 802.11b WLAN. Using voice prompts, it allows users to speak instantly with the people they need, thereby reducing phone tag, overhead paging or the need to physically search for a person.

“Vocera’s strength in the healthcare market makes them a great partner for us,” said Ted Watson, director, Business Development, Colubris Networks. “This partnership is helpful in leveraging our leadership position in the hospitality and transportation industries where staff efficiency directly affects business performance and customer satisfaction into the healthcare market where these attributes are equally critical.”
