COLUBRIS MULTISERVICE WLAN DEPLOYED AT 100 MARINAS

Colubris Networks, a leading provider of multiservice WLAN systems, announced today that Beacon Wi-Fi, the largest provider of wireless Internet access to marinas on the eastern seaboard, completed deployment of the Colubris Multiservice WLAN System at over 100 marinas – over 50,000 boat slips – in 2004.  Remote monitoring and voice services will be deployed over the existing Colubris Multiservice WLAN System in 2005.

“Beacon Wi-Fi uses the Colubris Multiservice WLAN System to carry multiple applications over a single WLAN,” said Chris Reitz, co-founder, Beacon Wi-Fi. “Colubris is the only system we’ve tested that can carry multiple applications and provide the high-level of security and reliability needed for outdoor deployments.  Our tests show that the Colubris Multiservice WLAN System is ready for the remote monitoring and voice services that we expect will be strong revenue generators for Beacon Wi-Fi.”

Beacon Wi-Fi has standardized on the Colubris Multiservice WLAN System to provide its industry-leading Aqua Access services and wireless Internet access.  Wireless Internet access at marinas allows boat owners to send and receive e-mails, download vital information including navigation and weather updates or simply browse the Internet from the safety and comfort of their vessel. The remote monitoring services solve three important maintenance issues for boat owners.  The services include Battery Voltage Check, Shore Power Check and Bilge Activity Check.

Beacon Wi-Fi, through marketing agreements with marinas, installs equipment that provides wireless connectivity and applications for boats and marinas.  Aqua Access Remote Monitoring Services will provide access to vital vessel information wirelessly.  The introduction of voice services will provide a customer requested addition to Beacon Wi-Fi’s current offerings.

“Beacon Wi-Fi prides itself on listening and responding to customer requests as we continue to grow our suite of service offerings,” said Melissa Student, managing member, Beacon Wi-Fi. “Colubris Networks has continued to provide the platforms required to meet our evolving customer demands.”
