Coradiant, Inc.™, a leader in real-user monitoring equipment for data center applications, today announced that it has appointed Brett Helm as chief executive officer (CEO). Helm will lead Coradiant’s growth and diversification as the company explores new opportunities to apply its unique session-level networking technology to real-user monitoring and other emerging data center and web infrastructure products.
“I am pleased to be taking this role at Coradiant during such an exciting time for both the company and our industry,” Helm said. “Coradiant’s first generation of real-user monitoring products is defining a new category of product capabilities for companies like ADP, Hire.com, and BrassRing. The Coradiant management team has done a terrific job of getting us to first products and revenues while establishing a solid foundation for future growth, and now the company is taking the next steps.”
As more and more companies use the Internet for business, they are becoming increasingly dependent on being able to continuously monitor and troubleshoot web site performance and usability. Coradiant’s technology enables a new category of easy-to-install data monitoring equipment that is capable of seeing and reporting actual performance as experienced by every user, in each session, in real time. Coradiant is one of the few companies serving this emerging segment, and its core technology offers unique benefits that can be applied to other network monitoring and management processes, as well.
“Coradiant is entering an important new chapter in our growth, and we are delighted that Brett will be helping to lead us there,” said Alistair Croll, Coradiant’s co-founder and vice president of product management. “Brett already has been an integral part of the Coradiant team and, in his new role as CEO, will give the company the added horsepower to really move the needle on expansion plans.”
Helm was previously chairman of Coradiant’s board of directors and will continue in that role. He takes over the CEO position from Mike Chuli, who continues as president and chief operating officer (COO) and will be responsible for expanding the company’s sales and marketing operations. With more than 20 years of executive management experience, Helm has helped drive key industry innovations, many of which now serve as the technical underpinnings for Coradiant’s product line. As president and CEO of IPivot in the late 1990s, he helped create the industry’s first secure sockets layer (SSL) acceleration appliances and Layer 7-aware traffic management equipment. He spearheaded IPivot’s acquisition by Intel and continued as general manager of Intel’s Network Equipment Division. Other experience includes serving as chairman, president and CEO of AirFiber, and as vice president and general manager of the @Work business unit of the @Home Corporation. He also held senior management positions at U S West. As an Air Force aviator, Helm flew 26 combat missions during the Gulf War. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering at the University of Utah.
Founded in 1997, Coradiant initially was a managed service provider that worked on production-grade web applications in some of the world’s most demanding network environments. This expertise gave Coradiant unique insight into web application performance monitoring requirements and led the company to design and develop the world’s first technology for transparently monitoring, collecting and classifying real-user web sessions, in real time.
Previous user-monitoring approaches relied on synthetic, statistical sampling that did not provide a complete picture or the kinds of drill-down analytical capabilities that Coradiant’s TrueSight™ system offers. Easy to integrate with enterprise management software (EMS) systems, the equipment features no-risk, drop-in installation, produces results in less than an hour, and enables IT organizations to uncover, diagnose and repair even transient, hard-to-find issues in minutes rather than days or weeks.
