Dubbed a “made-for-mobile novella” by Virgin Mobile, the program features a fictional story about the lives of disenfranchised youths told through daily text message episodes received over the course of 30 days. Through the engaging and dramatic plot, the novella serves to expose the day-to-day challenges that homeless teens face.
The program is designed to appeal to Virgin Mobile’s youthful customer base, featuring a high level of interactivity and user-generated content. Periodic polling questions will be sent to readers allowing them to interact with the novella and its characters.. Subscribers to “Ghost Town” will be able to get more information about the characters by texting in a character’s name to receive his or her bio. The YouthNoise web site will also host a blog and discussion board focused on the novella.
