Following the much-anticipated announcement last month of its flagship product, the Incipient Network Storage Platform™ (iNSP™) software suite, Incipient closed its third quarter 2006 having achieved two storage industry firsts: the first company to announce the impending general availability of its storage virtualization software solution that is fully embedded on industry standard director class intelligent Fibre Channel (FC) switches. Secondly, Incipient announced that it is the first and only company to have developed split-path storage virtualization software from the ground up, specifically for the industry standard director class intelligent FC switch.
In addition to these two storage industry firsts, Incipient accomplished the following in the third quarter of 2006:
- Successfully completed a beta test program for its flagship product, the iNSP software suite. The program featured companies from a variety of vertical markets including financial services, government and storage/server OEMs worldwide.
- Rolled-out iNSP to the industry at the Storage Decisions conference in New York City and announced customer City of Mesa, AZ.
- Incipient customer Jeff Boles, IT manager for the City of Mesa, AZ, participated in a storage virtualization panel discussion moderated by Arun Taneja, founder of Taneja Group, at the Storage Decisions conference in New York City.
- Successfully deployed iNSP pilots at several large enterprise accounts where storage virtualization is on data center roadmaps.
- In an InfoWorld article dated October 5, 2006, the iNSP announcement was referred to as “one of the most significant releases in recent storage news.”
- Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) published a Storage Virtualization Report dated September 2006 which states that Incipient is delivering to customers what they have long been asking for – a storage virtualization software solution that runs natively in a leading SAN switch. ESG also cites Incipient as the first storage virtualization vendor to develop software that works natively on the Cisco Storage Services Module (SSM).
- Sales and service teams were significantly expanded to provide 24/7 support for Incipient’s growing customer base.
- The company was awarded two additional patents to protect various storage virtualization innovations. This brings the total number of core-issued patents to four with several others pending.
“This was an exciting and important quarter for both our company and the storage industry,” said Ric Calvillo, CEO of Incipient, Inc. “We are witnessing first-hand a growing demand for our storage virtualization solution. The software is ready to go, and the number of interested customers is growing.”
