Ember Strengthens Management Team

Ember, a provider of ZigBee networks for safer, smarter and more energy efficient buildings and homes, today announced two senior executive appointments. Bob Gohn joins the company as vice president of marketing, and Jim Sheehan is Ember’s new chief financial officer.

Gohn brings to Ember more than 25 years in networking and semiconductor industry expertise. He joins Ember from Freescale Semiconductor, where he served as director of strategy and business development for the Networking and Computing Systems Group. Previous experience includes vice president and director level positions at C-Port Corporation, a leading network processor start-up acquired by Motorola, and network equipment companies 3Com Corporation and Standard Microsystems Corporation (SMSC). Gohn received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the Stony Brook University, and his master’s degree at Polytechnic University.

“I’ve been watching Ember since they began, and have been repeatedly impressed by their innovation and strong leadership role in shaping the ZigBee wireless standard and market,” Gohn said. “I’m joining a ZigBee leader with best in class products at this opportune time when many ZigBee-based products are entering the market.”

Sheehan has more than 20 years of financial and operations management experience in software, services and manufacturing. He was most recently CFO at Demantra, which Oracle acquired in June 2006. At Demantra, he was responsible for all aspects of finance, human resources and IT services. Sheehan has extensive M&A experience in both selling and acquiring companies. Prior to Demantra, he held senior finance positions at Neteos, BISYS Networking Services, Network Integrity, EMC and Epoch Systems. Sheehan holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Bonaventure University.

“Ember is at its ‘coming of age’ stage as it ramps up into a mature, fast-growth company in a potentially hyper-growth market. There is no more exciting time for a CFO to join a company than now,” said Sheehan.
