Vela Systems Announces A Case Study Explaining How Charleville Development Corporation Delivered The Blue View at Doral Project One Month Early

Vela Systems, a developer of mobile software that streamlines field administration for the AEC (Architecture-Engineering-Construction) industry today released a joint case study on how the integration of their solution with Primavera Systems, the leading provider of project, program, resource and portfolio management software, benefited Charleville Development Corporation. This case study describes how Charleville, a Miami-based developer of high quality, high-end projects, used Vela Systems’ mobile field software and Primavera to accelerate delivery, improve quality and hold subcontractors accountable across all projects pursued by the company. Charleville uses Vela Systems’ software across all of its projects installed on tablet PCs from Motion Computing to replace the rolls of drawings and field notebooks typically found on a work site. Charleville used Vela and Primavera on The Blue View at Doral, a $56 million marquis condominium and hotel project that consists of 15 three-story buildings on a 17-acre site that overlooks the Blue Monster, a well-known course at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Doral, Florida. Because the Blue View at Doral was the only on-course development at the resort, consumer demand for condos and owner expectations for quality were both very high. As a result of using Vela Systems and Primavera, Charleville has gained at least thirty days of time and knows exactly how much deficient work is on the site so that it does not pay subcontractors for work that is not up to its standards. Charleville also took advantage of Vela Systems’ automatic integration into Primavera’s construction management software. The cost of the solutions was paid for five times over in the first year by the benefits it garnered. Charleville had the integration up-and-running in less than one hour, with automatic data exchange on projects and contacts between Primavera Contract Manager and Vela’s solution, resulting in the immediate transfer and availability of critical project information such as field reports and punch list items. “Streamlining our processes and completing jobs faster helps us compete in the market,” said Justin Murphy, senior project manager at Charleville Development. “We are a relatively small company and most of us have multiple roles. So whatever tools we can use to maximize our time in the field or with subcontractors and minimize our time on paperwork really helps.” Charleville also took advantage Vela Systems’ easy integration with Primavera Systems’ software so that changes made in the field would be reflected in its construction management systems. “This case study on Charleville’s success with the Blue View at Doral demonstrates concretely the value that mobile field solutions bring to construction,” said Tim Curran, CEO of Vela Systems. “With Vela, companies can bring their entire operations together to deliver projects faster and with greater cost savings and work quality.” To download a copy of the case study on Charleville Development Corporation, please visit: www.primavera.com/files/customers/CharlevilleDevelopment.pdf.
