AirMagnet, Inc., the leader in wireless LAN (WLAN) security and performance solutions, and Colubris Networks, a leading global provider of MultiService WLAN solutions, today announced an agreement to integrate AirMagnet’s award-winning AirMagnet™ Enterprise software into the Colubris Intelligent MultiService System (CIMS) – which is comprised of the InCharge™ centralized management system, the InMotion™ family of services controllers and the InReach™ family of multiservice access points (MAPs).
Trusted by more than 3,000 corporate customers including 66 of the Fortune 100, AirMagnet provides the industry’s most complete intrusion detection and prevention (IDS/IPS), including location-based rogue tracing, and identifies more than 130 security and performance threats. AirMagnet Enterprise also monitors network health and performance, provides wireless and wired-side blocking to prevent intruders from accessing the network, and ensures the overall reliability of the network.
AirMagnet’s AirWISE technology, which scales to larger networks and detects more kinds of wireless intrusions than any other product, is at the heart of its Enterprise solution. The AirWISE technology is being integrated into Colubris’ InReach family of multiservice access points and will, along with the integration of the AirMagnet Enterprise server software into other elements of the Colubris CIMS system, provide customers with a best-of-breed, turnkey solution that enables network administrators to remotely troubleshoot their wireless networks. By building AirMagnet’s market-leading intrusion detection and prevention (IDS/IPS) into Colubris’ multiservice architecture, the two companies are delivering the next generation of fully secured, massively scalable, integrated wireless infrastructure.
The integrated solution will be available from Colubris Networks in Q3 2005. It will be demonstrated publicly for the first time at NetWorld+Interop 2005, in Las Vegas, May 3-5, 2005.
Colubris Networks is the wireless networking hardware and software provider for McGill University, whose campus-wide wireless network serves more than 30,000 students, faculty and administration in university public areas and libraries.
“When considering a wireless deployment, one of McGill’s top concerns was the potential security risk associated with wireless networks,” said Gary Bernstein, director, Network and Communications Services, McGill University. “While Colubris has always been a leader in secure WLAN, the partnership between AirMagnet and Colubris Networks is great news because it opens the door to a best-of-breed IDS/IPS solution that’s able to detect and prevent Wi-Fi users from unknowingly compromising network security by establishing rogue access points.”
The Colubris CIMS system combines centralized management and control with distributed edge intelligence, enabling smooth and cost-effective scalability with the ability to deliver the broadest range of applications and services to mobile business professionals. Edge intelligence is integral to the delivery of multiple services in order to effectively enforce security and QoS policies associated with each service at the boundary between WLANs and wired networks. By combining centralized management and control with distributed intelligence at the edge, Colubris solutions make it easy for organizations to deploy intelligent, scalable systems that are optimized for security, reliability, and application performance.
“Our OEM partnership with AirMagnet is another example of Colubris’ commitment to enterprise-grade secure wireless networking,” said Barry Fougere, President and CEO, Colubris Networks. “Integrating AirMagnet’s leading IDS/IPS capabilities into our award-winning CIMS system provides organizations with even greater advanced RF management and intrusion detection and prevention capabilities to protect their WLANs from potential security threats.”
AirMagnet Enterprise secures and maintains some of the world’s largest wireless networks. It provides the industry’s most complete intrusion detection and response, including location-based rogue tracing and blocking, and identifies over 130 security and performance threats. AirMagnet Enterprise also monitors network health and performance, provides wireless and wired-side blocking to prevent intruders from accessing the network, and insures the overall reliability of the network.
“By combining our robust security and performance toolset with Colubris’ multiservice WLAN products, we are able to provide enterprise customers with increased ease-of-use, as well as a more secure wireless network,” said Dean Au, president and CEO of AirMagnet. “This partnership with Colubris shows our continued commitment to making deployment and management of highly secure WLANs as easy as possible for our customers.”
AirMagnet and Colubris Networks will be exhibiting in Booths #410 and #925 at NetWorld+Interop Las Vegas, May 3-5.
