Colubris Networks Inc. has acquired Kiwi Networks Inc., whose technology is used to mitigate interference among wireless data signals passing over unlicensed radio spectrum.
The companies did not disclose financial terms of the agreement.
Kiwi is based in Campbell, Calif. It was backed by $1 million from Western Technology Investment and an undisclosed sum from Doll Capital Management, according to information on WTI’s Web site.
Doll Capital was one of Colubris’ backers in a recent $15 million round of venture capital financing. Colubris has raised a total of $36 million in its history.
“The problem Kiwi has focused on — enabling unlicensed spectrum to behave deterministically under load — will become increasingly critical over the next several years as Wi-Fi becomes more pervasive in enterprise and carrier networks,” said Barry Fougere, chief executive of Colubris, in a prepared statement. “Benefits will include improved interference mitigation and reduced network congestion.”
