Colubris Names Marilyn Kain as New Vice President of Business Development

Colubris Networks, a leader in intelligent, multiservice wireless LAN (WLAN) systems, today announced the appointment of Marilyn Kain as its new vice president of business development.

With more than 25 years of experience in business development and sales management for networking, software and communications companies, Kain brings to Colubris the proven expertise needed to drive major revenue growth through strategic alliances, OEM deals and international sales channel development. Kain joins Colubris from Crossbeam Systems, the market leader in high-end unified threat management platforms for network security. As Crossbeam’s Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Alliances, she led Crossbeam’s OEM, ISV and technology partnership programs. In this role Kain established significant OEM partnerships with 3Com Corporation and SAMSUNG’s Secui.com, Korea’s leading firewall vendor. She also led the growth of an extensive ISV partnership program which includes CheckPoint, Aladdin, Enterasys, Secure Computing, Sourcefire, Trend Micro and Websense.

At Intel Network Systems prior to Crossbeam, Kain served as vice president of operations for Asia-Pacific, Japan and Latin America. In this position, Kain had responsibility for regional business development, sales, and operations, the same position she held at Shiva Corporation before its acquisition by Intel. While at Shiva Kain led the company’s 10-fold revenue growth and expansion into the Asia Pacific region, including the establishment of subsidiaries in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia.

Earlier in her career, Kain held a variety of sales management and business development positions, including those at Gensym Corporation and Sigma Designs.
