Colubris Networks Deploys Agile On Demand PLM,

Agile Software Corporation (Nasdaq: AGIL), the leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, today announced that Colubris Networks, a leader in the wireless local area network (WLAN) market, has deployed Agile Advantage 2005 as its corporate PLM solution. Colubris opted for the Agile On DemandTM offering, successfully implementing Agile Advantage 2005 in one day and managing its critical product information the next day. Agile Advantage 2005 is Agile’s new offering for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
“Members of our product and executive teams had experience with Agile’s PLM solutions in the past,” said Ken Maclure, vice president, Operations of Colubris. “They believed that Agile delivers the capabilities and value we sought, and felt strongly that our best option was to go with a proven leader. The Agile On Demand model allowed us to realize—virtually immediately—the benefits of working with a system we view to be an industry standard for PLM solutions. We had no hardware to invest in, no software to purchase, and no IT resources to allocate. Best of all, we were able to go into production within 24 hours of signing our agreement with Agile.”
Founded 5 years ago, Colubris has grown rapidly to become a leading provider of Wireless LAN solutions, and today has more than 1,000 customers around the world. Accuracy in the company’s outsourced manufacturing processes is critical to keeping costs down and assuring the quality that Colubris customers—concentrated in the service provider industry and in the Fortune 2000—rely on. “A comprehensive PLM system enables us to provide our contract manufacturers with precise product information,” said Ed Sweeney, Technical Operations Manager at Colubris. “This reduces cost inefficiencies due to rework and helps ensure that we continue to meet our ship dates. Our customers provide service for venues like the Olympics and the Major League Baseball’s All Star Game, so there’s no room to negotiate on dates.”
Colubris Networks chose to implement its Agile Advantage 2005 through the Agile On Demand option. For Colubris, this means that the company’s vital product information is managed in a secure, reliable, robust IT environment—with system maintenance tasks such as backup and disaster recovery provided—and without the IT burden an enterprise system often carries. Colubris was able to implement Agile Advantage 2005 in a day, and begin leveraging the system’s PLM capabilities the next day.
“Colubris is a prime example of the customer we had in mind when the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) division was formed,” said Bryan Stolle, Agile CEO. “These customers are busy growing their businesses and interested in how they can best leverage resources. A world-class PLM system is critical to them, but the ROI for a long implementation or for expensive IT resources doesn’t align with their strategic goals. Our SME division and its solutions—including Agile Advantage 2005 and Agile On Demand—meet just such critical requirements for these customers.”
