Incipient, Inc., the leading provider of network-based storage virtualization software for Storage Area Network (SAN) environments, announced today that it will participate in the Storage Virtualization Hands-On Lab at Storage Networking World (SNW) Fall 2006 in Orlando, Florida, October 31 – November 3, 2006. The company will also demonstrate its flagship storage virtualization software solution, Incipient Network Storage Platform™ (iNSP™) at booth C18 during the conference expo.
The Hands-On Lab at SNW, organized by the SNIA End User Council in conjunction with selected SNIA Forums and participating SNW sponsors/exhibitors, is an extremely popular program that provides IT end users a rare “try before you buy” experience. In a classroom setting, participants are given the opportunity to test drive the latest storage technologies. Incipient will participate in the Storage Virtualization 101 and 201 classes allowing end users to gain first hand experience with the iNSP software suite, its recently announced split-path storage virtualization software solution that is completely embedded on industry standard director-class intelligent Fibre Channel (FC) switches.
The Storage Virtualization 101 class is designed for managers and technical personnel to gain a basic understanding of how to set up and configure a block and file system virtualized storage environment with appropriate security including discussion about data migration, multiple path, volume expansion, and data backup and recovery. The Storage Virtualization 201 class is designed for storage administrators to gain an understanding of how to set up and take advantage of advanced virtualization features in a heterogeneous storage environment including experience in configuration and data snapshots, data mirroring, remote replication, migration, high-availability solutions, and volume contraction.
“The Hands-On Lab at SNW is an invaluable experience for end users, who so rarely have an opportunity to evaluate new technology without filling out reams of paperwork and going through what is typically an arduous approval process, to experience first hand the benefits each product provides,” said Robert Infantino, senior vice president, Marketing and Alliances, Incipient, Inc. “The number of pre-registered attendees for both Storage Virtualization classes exceeded our expectations – each class is near the maximum capacity limit making the Storage Virtualization category the most popular draw. We’re pleased to participate in the Hands-On Labs to not only give end users access to iNSP, but to demonstrate how storage virtualization can be leveraged to migrate data without disruption to applications, simplify the storage provisioning process and reduce costs for point-in-time copy services across heterogeneous storage tiers.”
Event: Storage Virtualization 101 Hands-On Lab at SNW
Dates/Times: Wednesday, November 1, 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET, Thursday, November 2, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. ET
Event: Storage Virtualization 201 Hands-On Lab at SNW
Dates/Times: Wednesday, November 1, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
“We are pleased to have one of Incipient’s customers on this virtualization panel to discuss the value they have achieved using the iNSP solution. In addition to Jeff, there are many other companies benefiting from the Incipient solution,” said Robert Infantino, senior vice president, Marketing and Alliances, Incipient, Inc. “Storage virtualization continues to be etched on every mid-sized to large-enterprise company’s data center road map. Companies that have hundreds of terabytes and multiple petabytes of storage capacity that continues to grow at a rapid pace, have been asking for solutions that provide a common set of storage services across their SAN. The iNSP does just that and allows companies to utilize their storage more efficiently and reduce the complexity of their ever expanding SAN environment.”
