GlassHouse Technologies, the leading technology-independent provider of storage services and consulting, today joined 16 other top companies in launching the Technology Professional Services Association, the first national industry group dedicated to supporting professionals who create, deliver, and manage technology in the world’s leading corporations.
The TPSA represents hardware and software vendors, systems integrators, consultants, hosting companies and resellers. Its goals include promoting best practices standards; providing expert insight and commentary to the media; and developing new concepts, models and methods for delivering technology services. In addition to GlassHouse, founding members include: BEA Systems, Computer Associates, Convergys, Genesys Telecomm Labs, Hitachi Data Systems, Hyperion Solutions, IKON Office Solutions, Mercury Interactive, Parametric Technology Corporation, Peregrine Systems, Progress Software, QuickArrow, salesforce.com, SBI Group and Sterling Commerce.
“We are very pleased to have secured the executive support and thought leadership from GlassHouse, a key influencer in the professional services industry,” said Thomas E. Lah, executive director of TPSA. “This commitment, which stems from the clear understanding of the need for improved processes and their resulting business impact, is our strongest guarantee that TPSA will establish itself as the significant voice of the technology industry.”
As a founding member, GlassHouse will help formulate the association agenda, develop best practices guidelines, and advise and review proposed initiatives to ensure the organization is able to address all the challenges and opportunities in technology professional services. The TPSA plans to hold its first conference April 10-11, 2006 in San Diego.
“Services are a growing piece of the IT puzzle as companies struggle to deploy new technologies to address their needs,” said GlassHouse CEO Mark Shirman. “Vendors and service providers know that customers need objective information so they can make important technology decisions with confidence. TPSA is filling that need, and we’re glad to be an early contributor.”
