GlassHouse Technologies provide resilience to HM Treasury

GlassHouse Technologies, the leading independent IT infrastructure consulting and services firm, has announced its contract with HM Treasury to provide real-time support and monitoring for servers hosting critical governmental applications. HM Treasury is the department within government that holds responsibility for the economic and financial health of the United Kingdom. It is the financial applications within HM Treasury’s IT infrastructure that provide the information from which the department can make informed decisions affecting over 60 million British citizens. Critical to the effectiveness of the department is the stability of its IT platform and the organisation has been working with GlassHouse to ensure that important applications remain up and running. Andy Rogers, of HM Treasury’s Exchequer Funds and Accounts team, said: “GlassHouse Technologies is one of the top IT consultancies we have worked with and we have absolute faith in their ability to keep our vital systems online. We’re heavily dependent on a number of key applications to carry out the work of HM Treasury and GlassHouse has provided a solid, well-designed model that alerts us to any problems before they become critical.” The service GlassHouse is providing to HM Treasury ensures resilience through a two server model, one passive and one active, ensuring that if one goes down the system is unaffected. By dynamically monitoring the status of the servers, GlassHouse is able to proactively intervene where necessary to protect the system against failures. If however the system does fail and onsite technicians are unable to get the system back on line, GlassHouse will send out a member of its rapid response ‘Fly to Site’ team to solve the problem.
