On October 4, 2003 GrandBanks Capital will co-sponsor the 4th annual MIT Sloan Software Symposium – I See a Light (www.mitsloanevents.com).
The foci of this year’s event will be on the current state and coming trends in the software sector of the technology market. Morning speakers will provide insight into current and future direction of capital markets, software infrastructure and its impact on business strategy, software buying trends in the technology industry and evolving legal, accounting and corporate governance issues affecting software companies.
In the afternoon, CEOs from 24 revenue-generating, software companies in the enterprise apps, informatics, offshore development, security, Web services and wireless apps sectors will discuss what it takes for a company to get funded, stay competitive, remain focused and be successful. Among the CEOs participating will be Malcolm Frank of CXO Systems and Jonathon Linner of Enpocket, both GrandBanks Capital portfolio companies.
Four venture capitalists, including GrandBanks Capital’s Managing General Partner, Charles R. Lax, will discuss what’s getting funded (and what’s not) and what they are doing to further the opportunity for success of their portfolio companies. They will also offer thoughts about trends affecting the VC industry, consolidation pressures and their strategies in today’s market.
