GlassHouse Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of independent storage services and consulting, today announced it has opened a Washington, D.C. office to support the company’s expansion and continued success in the federal government market.
The D.C. office will manage sales and operational delivery to federal and state government clients and prospects, and provide a full range of storage services and consulting to existing clients and new prospects. Among GlassHouse’s government clients are The Aerospace Corporation and the Washington State Digital Archives Project.
GlassHouse provided consulting services to the Washington State Digital Archives Project after winning an RFQQ, including a feasibility analysis of three key components of the State’s Digital Archives project: Storage Area Networks, Converting from Legacy Software and Data, and Data Archiving. “When we issued our RFQQ we specifically looked for organizations that would provide us with independent, vendor-neutral counsel and advice,” said Cathy Turk, Financial Services Manager, Washington State. “We wanted to consider best practices and be very rigorous in defining our project goals and expectations. Of all the responses we received, GlassHouse’s was far and away the best.”
GlassHouse’s consulting engagements for the Washington area office of The Aerospace Corporation, a not-for-profit corporation which works with the US government to develop space-related hardware and software, include a Storage and Backup Assessment and a high-level architecture design for a proposed network attached storage (NAS) solution.
“Storage and backup initiatives in the Federal government represent new markets in which GlassHouse can offer its expertise and understanding of the complex business and technical issues associated with storing and managing growing amounts of data,” said Mark Shirman, CEO and President, GlassHouse Technologies, Inc. “Given the explosion in storage purchases by Federal, State and local governments, GlassHouse has made a strategic decision to build on its early success in serving government customers by opening an office dedicated to the public sector. We will continue to serve our clients’ needs for storage, backup, archiving and Disaster Recovery systems that deliver predictable, manageable support for enterprise storage operations,” Shirman added.
“This regional expansion is a logical extension of the GlassHouse plan to become the world’s leading provider of enterprise storage and backup services,” said J.D. Creedon, GlassHouse General Manager – Federal Business. “The government vertical leverages the work we have done in the financial, healthcare, retail, and biotechnology verticals. Our ability to assist our customers with unbiased counsel and methodologies is unrivaled,” he concluded. The new office is headquartered at 2300 M Street, NW Suite 800, Washington, D.C. 20015, 202-412-6904.
GlassHouse Technologies was founded in August 2001 by a veteran team of IT, storage and consulting experts. The company provides a full range of services including strategy, assessment, design, implementation, education, operations, and solution maintenance. The company is vendor-neutral and does not sell hardware or software.
