IAR Systems and Ember Corporation have teamed together to deliver a reliable and easy to use ZigBee development and debugging platform for sensing and control applications such as smart metering and home automation. Ember recently launched the EM35x InSight Development Kits. The EM35x Insight Development Kits are built around ARM Cortex-M3 processor technology and comes with the latest version of IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM, a completely integrated development environment for embedded applications.
The EM35x Development Kits include hardware, network development and debugging software, compiler and EmberZNet PRO networking stack for embedded applications, all delivered in a complete development environment. A unique component of the software is the Ember AppBuilder tool which enables developers to rapidly build ZigBee certifiable applications using both ZigBee public application profiles as well as custom applications.
IAR Embedded Workbench is a set of highly sophisticated and easy-to-use development tools. It incorporates IAR C/C++ Compiler for ARM Cortex-M3, assembler, linker, librarian, text editor, project manager, and debugger combined in an integrated development environment (IDE) for programming embedded applications.
IAR Embedded Workbench is developed to deliver high-performance compiled code. The chip-specific code optimizer generates very efficient and reliable flashable code for ARM Cortex-M3 devices. The toolset is renowned across the industry for its efficient code generation characteristics, an essential aspect of wireless systems incorporating battery operated devices.
“There are strong initiatives around the world for implementing smart energy and home control solutions, including smart meters and in-home devices (IHD), to address the growing gap between energy demand and supply as well as to increase consumer comfort, convenience and security,” said Robert LeFort, CEO of Ember. “IAR and Ember tools are renowned for being best in class, and together they offer the fastest time to market for developers building ZigBee products.”
“The home automation and smart metering markets are very important for us,” comments Stefan Skarin, Chief Executive Officer, IAR Systems. He continues, “We have a growing number of customers that need to quickly design products and bring them to market. Ember’s EM35x Insight ZigBee Development Kit allows the quick prototyping of new designs based on a proven platform and perfectly complements our verified tool sets.”
The EM35x Development Kits cost $2,500 USD at the base level and include a 30-day evaluation edition of IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM, V5.40. A version with a permanent license for IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM is also available.
ESC Boston – The Ember EM35x Insight Development Kits will be on demonstration at the IAR Systems booth – # 814.
