Incipient, Inc.. Customers to Participate on Storage Virtualization Panel at Fall 2006 Storage Desicions Conferences in New York City

Incipient, Inc., the leading provider of network-based storage virtualization software for Storage Area Network (SAN) environments, will participate in this week’s Storage Decisions conference at the Hilton New York, September 27-29, 2006. At the conference, Incipient customer Jeff Boles, IT manager at the City of Mesa, AZ, will participate on a storage virtualization panel discussing his experience testing and using the Incipient Network Storage Platform™ (iNSP™) software suite, the industry’s first-of-its-kind storage virtualization software solution. iNSP answers pent up customer demand for a storage virtualization software solution that resides in the Fabric.

Incipient has developed the first and only storage virtualization software solution that is fully embedded on industry standard director-class intelligent Fibre Channel switches. This unique approach allows companies that are undergoing rapid storage infrastructure growth to scale their storage infrastructure with ease and without disruption to operations, while reducing the inherent complexities of large IT environments. Incipient will debut iNSP at the Fall 2006 Storage Decisions Conference in Booth #209 (See related news release, “Incipient, Inc. Debuts the First Storage Virtualization Solution Fully Embedded in Industry Standard Intelligent FC Switches” dated September 27, 2006).

“The term ‘storage virtualization’ has swirled around the storage market for some time without much to back it up,” said Arun Taneja, founder of Taneja Group. “Finally we are hearing from end-users who have actually implemented storage virtualization software and can share their experiences. Virtualizing complex SAN infrastructures is an involved process to say the least. This panel of end-users will speak from real experience to provide the audience with guidance on what, how and why they should consider storage virtualization for their IT infrastructures.” For years, ESG has watched the evolution of storage virtualization and listened to the requests of end-user customers who told us they want intelligent data management software to run within their SAN switches,” said Tony Asaro, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “Switch-based storage virtualization solutions are only just emerging and Incipient is focused on being a leader in this market. Incipient, with its split-path architecture, leverages the Cisco MDS switch and is actually the first software-based storage virtualization solution that runs natively on this platform. This is an important milestone that has been desired and anticipated by customers for many years.”

Virtualization Panel
Date: September 28, 2006
Time: 10:15 a.m. ET
Location: Storage Decisions Fall 2006, Hilton New York, Avenue of the Americas

The City of Mesa, AZ’s IT Manager Jeff Boles, an Incipient customer and iNSP Beta Program participant who recently purchased the iNSP software suite, will participate on the Virtualization Panel moderated by Arun Taneja, founder of Taneja Group. This panel will feature storage industry peers that will discuss virtualization technologies, products and techniques, sharing insight from their experiences for the benefit of the audience.

“We are pleased to have one of Incipient’s customers on this virtualization panel to discuss the value they have achieved using the iNSP solution. In addition to Jeff, there are many other companies benefiting from the Incipient solution,” said Robert Infantino, senior vice president, Marketing and Alliances, Incipient, Inc. “Storage virtualization continues to be etched on every mid-sized to large-enterprise company’s data center road map. Companies that have hundreds of terabytes and multiple petabytes of storage capacity that continues to grow at a rapid pace, have been asking for solutions that provide a common set of storage services across their SAN. The iNSP does just that and allows companies to utilize their storage more efficiently and reduce the complexity of their ever expanding SAN environment.”
