Vela Systems, a developer of mobile field software for the AECO (architecture, engineering, contractor and owner) industry, today announced that Manhattan Construction, a more than 100-year-old international construction company based in Tulsa, OK, will be using Vela Systems installed on Tablet PCs to help build the largest enclosed football stadium in the United States. Located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the stadium’s construction marks the continuation of Vela’s rapidly growing popularity amongst AECO leaders who are enlisting the solution for its proven abilities to accelerate project delivery, save money and improve work quality.
Building the new stadium is a large, complex undertaking. The dome alone will be the world’s biggest – capable of containing the Statue of Liberty with the roof closed – and features supporting trusses nearly one-quarter mile across. The retractable roof is a new design that will open to a width of 256 feet and length of 410 feet, all in just 14 minutes. For this project, Manhattan wanted to employ a technology solution that could help the organization understand the status of construction in the field in near real-time. Manhattan will use Vela-enabled Tablet PCs to track quality, work items and punch lists throughout construction.
