Boston-based OutStart, a provider of content-centric learning software, has acquired Participate Systems of Chicago, a provider of online customer and sales support products.
No financial details of the purchase were released.
According to OutStart, the acquisition allows the company to develop new products that blend both structured training and knowledge-sharing approaches. The resulting offering will be released in the first half of 2005 and will allow companies to more effectively train, educate and inform their.
“In the real word, companies need to capture and transfer knowledge through many different channels, including formal training, knowledge bases, online communities, dialogues with experts and the like,” said Massood Zarrabian, CEO and president of OutStart, in a statement. “The acquisition allows OutStart to be the first to offer the market a far more complete solution that harnesses these channels to capture and deliver knowledge to better drive customer revenues and support efforts.”
OutStart’s customers include Empire BlueCross BlueShield, Cisco Systems, Steelcase, the U.S. Navy and Verizon.
