Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) today announced that it has signed a relationship agreement with storage virtualisation and data migration software company Incipient, Inc. This makes Unisys the first systems integrator in Europe to directly supply and support software products developed by Incipient. The Incipient product suite helps organisations to efficiently manage data across Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructures without disruption to business operations. Unisys already has considerable knowledge and experience of working with large scale storage infrastructures and working with its clients to better manage their evolving storage requirements. Together with the Incipient suite of software products, Unisys will be able to further transform the storage infrastructures of its clients, offering them the flexibility they need to manage business growth while lowering the general costs of SAN ownership. Under the agreement with Incipient, Unisys will be entitled to offer to customers a proven solution for managing large-scale SAN environments. Feature sets such as non-disruptive data migration and automated storage provisioning will offer customers the ability to dynamically respond to rapid storage growth and to reduce planned downtime. Additionally, customers will benefit from reductions in capital and operational expenditures. With Incipient software, Unisys can also help customers move towards on demand storage, breaking the vendor lock-in so often seen in the storage market. “Unisys is well regarded in the industry as a leading provider of trusted storage services. This relationship will offer us many opportunities as we continue to expand our business throughout EMEA,” said Robert Infantino, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Alliances, Incipient. “Companies with large enterprise SANs continue to grow their information at a blistering pace. Until now, companies have not had access to a solution that offers the flexibility to manage that kind of business growth. By teaming with Incipient, Unisys can now provide a solution to this age old problem. For the first time, companies will be able to leverage a broader range of storage vendors, be able to dynamically move storage resources at will without the need for extended planning, and drive down the overall cost of SAN ownership. Incipient software will bring many benefits, including increased flexibility and cost savings, to Unisys customers for the management of large-scale SAN infrastructures. Weve invested time to select the right enabler for storage virtualisation and believe that the Incipient platform is well suited to the needs of our enterprise customers, says Steve Rawsthorne, Vice President Sales, Unisys Systems and Technology, EMEA, Unisys. Coupled with Unisys expertise and credibility in the data centre space, the combined offering with Incipient ensures that Unisys can best help its clients achieve increased flexibility with lower costs. It will deliver these significant cost savings through improved utilisation, lower storage costs and a simplified management and migration process.
