VELA SYSTEMS NOMINATED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION INNOVATION FORUM’S NOVA AWARD

Vela Systems is pleased to announce that it has been nominated for the Construction Innovation Forum’s 2008 NOVA Award, for its real-time BIM and RFID-enabled project management technologies, in cooperation with Tekla and Skanska USA Building, Inc. on the New Meadowland’s Stadium project. “The NOVA Award was instituted by the Construction Innovation Forum in 1989 to recognize innovations that have proven to be significant advances that have had positive, important effects on construction to improve quality and reduce cost. NOVA Awards have been awarded to advances in all areas of the construction industry, including innovations in the construction process and in materials, design, detailing, fabrication, equipment, procurement, contract administration, management, labor relations, training, and safety that improve the construction process. The NOVA Award has also recognized projects for their innovative concepts and methods.” (From the Construction Innovation Forum®)

Vela Co-Founder Adam Omansky comments, “As part of Vela’s ongoing recognition by the AECO industry for streamlining construction field processes, creating measurable value, and saving time and money for our customers, we are honored to be nominated for the Construction Innovation Forum’s 2008 NOVA Award. The Construction Innovation Forum’s mission statement aligns very well with Vela’s core values centered around technological innovation to improve quality and reduce cost. One also needs to include two other critical criteria: saving time and ensuring safety. Cost, time, quality and safety in the field or on the job site are key value drivers for Vela Systems’ business process innovations in construction project delivery. Most importantly, our customers continue to acknowledge the immediately recognizable and measurable value created by leveraging Vela’s powerful field software.”

About the Construction Innovation Forum®
“The goal of the Construction Innovation Forum (CIF) is to foster and encourage innovations in construction. The CIF began as an idea of a handful of people in 1986 and has grown into a worldwide grass roots organization that is known and respected for its NOVA Award, the ‘Nobel Prize’ for innovation in construction. New solutions to construction challenges occur only when individuals are inspired to think in new ways and such inspiration is a primary goal of the Construction Innovation Forum. The NOVA Awards exist to draw attention to innovative thinking and the need for more of it. So far, 40 NOVA Awards have been presented to innovative construction technologies, processes, and projects.” (Excerpt from a letter from Roger W. Lane, CIF Founding Chairman)
