Vivox, Inc. and K2 Network, Inc. announced today that the latest addition to K2 Network’s Free2Play™ library of games, War Rock, will include on–demand, in–game voice communications powered by Vivox. War Rock is the first FPS (First Person Shooter) to add integrated voice from Vivox, the leading provider of integrated voice services for online games.
Currently in open Beta and set for release in early 2007, War Rock is a team–based, player–vs–player FPS where players have the option to purchase access to a wide variety of gameplay enhancing items and services — or play the complete game as it is without ever paying a dime. War Rock is populated by thousands of players at any given time, all over the world.
Vivox will provide K2 Network with customized voice communication services that are integrated with War Rock. Players will be able to talk with everyone on their team in the game and with friends and other players in the game lobby. All voice communication is delivered via The Vivox Network in order to ensure no lag in game play.
“A fast paced and tactically intensive game like War Rock requires voice. In order to deliver a quality solution to our global audience, we chose Vivox,” said Joshua Hong, CEO of K2 Network. “We needed a voice technology partner with a proven ability to scale efficiently along with the resources to support the War Rock community. Our partnership with Vivox will keep K2 Network on the cutting edge of game communications for War Rock and future titles.”
“Incorporating Vivox voice into War Rock demonstrates K2 Network’s commitment to its players and the immersive experience. We are very excited to add them as an online game partner,” said Vivox CEO, Rob Seaver. “War Rock is an innovative FPS and by partnering with Vivox, K2 Network will deliver the highest quality user experience with the lowest technical risk for the business. The K2 Network team members are game experts; we are the voice–in–game experts — it’s a great partnership.”
