uLocate Communications, Inc. announced today that they have been named the winners of a number of major awards in the past 2 months including FierceWireless’ Fierce 15 for the nation’s top wireless companies and the Qualcomm Brew Developer Awards for best location based application. WHERE has also been named to the AlwaysOn 100, which recognises the top 100 start-ups in the United States.
In addition to these accolades, uLocate named the winners of their own Spring 2008 WHERE Developer Contest for the most innovative location based applications developed on their industry leading platform, WHERE.
The contest for GPS applications was run through the WHERE Developer Program and winners were selected by wireless industry experts from AT&T, NAVTEQ, and Motorola. The grand prize winner, Skymap from Mediated Spaces, will receive a cash prize and a meeting with the AT&T location team. The runners up, including Mapicurious, Voicemap.mobi, and DigOrDis win cash prizes and a GPS enabled phone.
The following winners become publicly available today on multiple carriers via the WHERE platform:
• Skymap provides information about the stars and constellations at a user’s current location.
• Mapicurious makes it easy to share favorite places, create a map of points, and integrate places into a blog or website.
• Voicemap.mobi is a mobile and web based system for leaving voice notes tied to a particular location.
