xkoto Reports Significant Customer and Revenue Growth in 2008; Ends Year on High Note with Record Fourth Quarter

xkoto (http://www.xkoto.com), the database virtualization company, today reported record revenues and strong customer growth in 2008, based on increasing demand for GRIDSCALE from businesses that require continuous availability and scalability for their critical applications. Fourth quarter revenue grew by 275 percent over the same period in 2007, while annual revenues grew 73 percent over 2007.

Major new customers committing to GRIDSCALE in 2008 were BNSF Railway, CNN, HSBC, Independence Blue Cross, Innovapost, Norfolk Southern Corporation, PUMA AG International, Texas Department of Transportation, and the Toronto Police Department. These organizations, many of which are multi-billion dollar global firms, chose GRIDSCALE database virtualization software to eliminate downtime, improve scalability and dramatically lower the cost required to manage and maintain business-critical databases.

xkoto received industry recognition in 2008 by being named “Startup of the Year” by InformationWeek at the publication’s prestigious InformationWeek 500 conference. In addition, GRIDSCALE was chosen a finalist in the competition for the Best of IBM’s Information on Demand Conference. For more information, visit http://www.xkoto.com/informationweek.

On the product front, the company rolled out GRIDSCALE for SQL Server, a product that significantly expands the market potential for xkoto in the rapidly growing Microsoft SQL Server space. The company also released several new capabilities in GRIDSCALE 4.1, a new version of its flagship product for IBM DB2. New features in GRIDSCALE 4.1 include the ability to support mixed operating systems and database versions in the same virtualized database pool, and support for synchronous and asynchronous database replication, guaranteeing zero data loss for remote databases.

“Major, global companies and government agencies are selecting GRIDSCALE to deliver continuous availability and scalability for business-critical applications, clearly demonstrating the reliability and effectiveness of the product,” said David Patrick, President and CEO of xkoto. “With difficult economic conditions predicted for much of 2009, GRIDSCALE’s ability to enable more cost-effective scale-out, availability and disaster recovery significantly increases its value proposition.”

In 2008, xkoto continued to expand its channel program with new distribution and consulting partners. New partners include several companies based in Europe: DV Solutions, Emerald Software, Expertise4IT, ITGain, LIS.TEC, MakeIT, Novalia Consulting, Triton Consulting and Venedim. xkoto also added Fourth Millennium Technologies, a Houston-based company.
